Sprouts

We would like to welcome you and your family to our Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church Millington. Our ministry looks forward to partnering with you to teach your child. We have teachers who are carefully screened for our classrooms. These teachers invest their love and time in the life of your preschoolers. As partners, the home and church can build spiritual foundations that will last forever.

Each time a preschooler is brought into one of our classrooms, he/she is involved in a well-planned, Christ-centered teaching program taught on his/her level of understanding. A biblical foundation is laid through teaching your child about God, Jesus, the Bible, the church, self, others, family, and the natural world.

Our Preschool classrooms sometimes hum with quiet activity. Sometimes they are loud and boisterous. But that is ok! There’s learning going on!

We open the Preschool Department 15 minutes before the service.

At First Baptist Church we have very high standards for teaching and caring for babies and young preschoolers. We know a significant amount of spiritual development can take place during the very young years.  Some of the ways we seek to maintain quality involve:

  • An emphasis on teaching and not just “babysitting.” – Every time we meet, every child hears about Jesus.
  • Security procedures for leaving and picking up preschoolers.
  • Policies and procedures for cleanliness. A clean room with clean toys and equipments is one way of saying “you are important” to a child.
  • Providing Bible teaching material for all Sunday School teachers of preschoolers.  Parents are given material to use at home to provide biblical teaching for their child.

Sunday Morning

Preschool Sunday School
Hours: 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Sunday School is designed to equip children with the basic knowledge of Bible stories and Bible truths.  Our goal is to teach each child about Jesus.  Application is made from Scripture to everyday living.  We work to make children’s Bible study fun, creative and exciting.  Three, four and five-year-olds have an opportunity to participate in a weekly memory Bible verse program.

Sunday Evening

Preschool Worship
6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
Our preschool discipleship program focuses on building the character of God in the lives of preschoolers ages 2-5. Our Discipleship Program is offered during the Worship Service for ages Birth-Kindergarten.

Wednesday Evening

Gospel Light
Hours: 6:15 – 7:45 p.m.

Gospel Light is a program designed to enhance Sunday School.  Each week the children re-visit their Sunday School lesson from the previous Sunday through games and activities.

Preschool Kids Praise

Our choir program is for children ages four and five.  They meet on Wednesdays. In addition to singing, a variety of teaching tools including games, instruments and movement are used during choir time.

“O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.”  Psalm 95:1

First-time guests

We will meet your family and check your child into our database system. Once your family is checked in, one of our volunteers will be happy to show you the age-appropriate room we have created for your child.

We will ask for the following personal information: family member’s names, child’s name and birth date, family address, phone number, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child. If you would like to fill out the information before you come, you may download it here.

You and your child will be given matching identification tags exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion of your matching identification tags which bears a code which is matched to your portion during checkout at the end of the service. During checkout, you will return to the Preschool Wing and show your tag for your child to be released back to you.

On your way home, be sure to ask your child: “Did you have fun?” and “What did you learn today?”

Check-in for returning members and visitors

Your first stop should be at one of our Check-In Stations where you will be able to check your child in for the service you are attending. Our start stations open 15-20 minutes prior to the start of each service. All you will need to do is enter in the last four digits of your phone number for our system to locate your family in our database.

You will receive a set of stickers with a family identification number for you and for your child. Your child will wear the sticker with his or her name. The sticker identical to the one on your child will go to his or her teacher.  Please hold on to your portion of the sticker until checkout at the end of the service. In case of emergency, we will call or text your cell phone.

If you have trouble locating your child in our Check-In Station system please make your way to the Guest Reception Desk to get assistance from one of our friendly volunteers.
