Make His Praise Glorious…

Psalm 66:2 says, “Sing for the honor of His name; make His praise glorious.” The importance of singing to the Lord, for the Lord and about the Lord is evidenced by the fact that music is mentioned in the Bible over 800 times. Worship to God is our natural response when He is working in our lives. It is part of living a victorious Christian life. There is a place for every person regardless of age or musical background in the music ministry.

Worship Choir

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir gives leadership every Sunday morning in the 9:30 worship service. They rehearse at 6:30 in the choir room on Wednesday nights.Childcare is provided for infants through 5th grade. This year starting on January 16, there is an alternative rehearsal on Thursdays at 9:00 as well. (Except no child care) No music reading ability or audition is required for membership, just a heart for worship and faithfulness in rehearsals. The choir presents the annual Easter and Christmas musicals, as well as, a mini-concert in August. The Worship Choir is open to 9th graders through senior adults.

Orchestra

The church orchestra accompanies congregational and choral music in the worship service, the annual Easter and Christmas musicals, and presents a mini-concert in August. Membership is open to youth and adults who contact the music office for an interview. The orchestra rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the orchestra room.

Handbell Choir

The handbell choir participates in worship, handbell festivals, and special events throughout the year. New members (18 years and up) are received by audition and interview with the director. The Carillons rehearse at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the handbell room.

Kids Praise

Kids Praise is our children’s choir for ages, 4 years old through the 5th grade.  In Kids Praise the children learn about music and how to worship God.  Our purpose is to teach them to praise the Lord with thankfulness in their hearts through singing and playing instruments. We start in the fall and continue through the school year. Kids Praise meets Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. during the fall and spring Refuel semesters.

Student Choir

The student choir is open to all 6th-12th graders regardless of musical ability or background. The ministry of the student choir includes singing occasionally in evening worship. We want to train young people to use their voices to worship God and share the message of Jesus. Psalm 102:18 says, “Let this be written for a future generation that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.” The student choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. in the choir room.

Hallelujah Choir

The Hallelujah Choir is our senior adult choir which is open to anyone age 55 and up whether they have ever sung in choir or not.  The choir sings mostly familiar hymns but also learns new songs as well.  We minister in the local communities by presenting a program with singing, Scripture reading and witnessing.  Each year the choir takes a tour in May and a Christmas tour in December.  The choir participates in the Senior Adult Tune Sharing Festival each year and presents a mini-concert for the church Sunday evening following their May tour.  The choir rehearses the first Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. and meets the third Thursday of the month to go to nursing homes to present their program.

There are several major music events throughout the year.  These events not only provide an enjoyable experience, but also serve as a way to spread the gospel of Christ.  These events include:
  • Christmas at First
  • The Splendor of Easter

  • Orchestra Mini-Concert
